RADIO PROBLEM

Hey so this is whats up, just bought a new golf, my baby. 1996 golf GL and the radio is stock and says SAFE. the man said it needs to be programed because he disconnected it from the battery.
Whats that mean?
Anything i should know?
best way to approch this?

Hey bud, your gonna have to get a security code for your radio to get it out of safe mode. Try vw main dealer first but you might need to get it recoded. Prob cost as much as gettin a new one tho lol.
