my auto wont start

hi my name is Tobe
and my golf wont start good strong ignition lights but nothing at the starter anyone come across this prob before ?
cos i dont want to take out the starter if its the inhibitor switch cheers Tobe

check the earth lead from the engine to the chassie just a thought m8

Can always try hitting the starter with a hammer and then trying to start it. (If the starter is almost pooched)
