Mk4 Golf - Oil pressure - help!
 

Hi

My wife has a 1.6 Mk4 Golf. Problem is that on occasions when she's driving the dash will tell her to "STOP - chech oil pressure". Then when she does stop, the car will cut out, and generally not start again until the engine has cooled down. The engine management light will stay on for at least 6 hours.

We have had the pressure switch, the impulse sender and the dashboard changed. Still no joy. It might be my imagination, but it seems to happen in moist weather conditions.

Does anybody know what the problem is please? It's driving us nuts and I'm worried she might break down somewhere dangerous.

I think it should be an issue with the Oil Pump or it's respective tubes and components. At this time what you can do is to replace the Oil Filter and the Gasket. I recommend you to use Genuine Volkswagen Parts. If the problem persists visit your VW Shop or your mechanic to run the OBD Engine diagnostics to discover what is the specific problem.
