I'm asking for some advice. My gearbox has gone on my mk4 golf tdi 2001. And the gearbox code is egr . But I'm having a problem buying a gearbox with that code. Do any other gear boxes with different codes fit my car many thanks

The EGR 5 speed is fitted to a few VAG models.

09/00-06/01 Audi A3
09/00-10/05 Seat Toledo
09/00-10/05 Seat Leon
09/00-05/06 Skoda Octavia
10/00-06/04 New Beetle
05/99-05/05 Bora
05/99- Golf
01/00- Jetta

So would a gearbox from a bora 2001 1.9tdi fit my 2001 1.9 tdi golf ?

Well the bloke can't tell me the code of the gearbox in the bora he only knows the year of the car

 

There will be the gearbox code (AHB) and part number on the gearbox.
