Keyless Entry Programming

Hi, can anyone provide instructions on how to program a new keyless entry FOB for my 1997 Golf?

RE: Keyless Entry Programming

OK, I figured this out.

Using two keys. I put one key in the ignition and turned it forward until all the lights came on but before the car turned on.
Then, with all doors closed I used the second key to hold the door lock in the unlock position.
Then I held the panic buttin on the remote until the horn chirped 3 times (took about 10 seconds).

This didn't work the first time, but the second time through the remote was programmed.

This should work for most golfs jettas and passats up to '93.

I have the banjo style remote with the following on the back: FCC ID: M36HUO1WT

Pretty slick! Thanks for posting that, too. I'm sure someone will need to look that up eventually.

However, my 97 Golf Jazz is not equipped with keyless entry. So sad.
