Just wondering
Hello all,
So recently i purchased a 97 golf gl. Runs great and a really fun ride. but i was wondering if anyone knew why there would be a green switch on the temperature control panel. I've searched the internet with no results http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/853/dscf1394e.jpg that's a picture of the switch. I've flipped the thing several time but it does nothing. Also there's a cable in the hatch http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/857/dscf1397h.jpg/ i have no idea where that goes to either. |
I don't know about the cable in the hatch, but the green switch is definitely something a previous owner added to the car. It was probably used to control an aftermarket device that is no longer in your car.
I believe all the cars sold in the US just have a blank space there like this car: http://www.cstatic-images.com/supers.../13285A.14.jpg |
I agree with CheesyRider. I also haven't seen any such switch on the controls and I also rather think that it would have had been used for the thing which would have been used as a sort of mods. I guess like that of the additional fog lights or something else like that. I also think that any professional mechanic would easily figure it out what is it related to.

If the switch is wired to the cable in the hatch it could of been used for an audio/video the previous owner installed.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark on this & suggest that the green switch could be for a remote hatch release
