How Often Should I Change The Timing Belt on my 2002 Golf 1.9 E SDI 5d??
 

Hi there,

The timing belt was originally changed at 46000 miles (5 years ago). The car has now done 90000. When should the timing belt be changed?

Any help much appreciated!

I think this is a US site? Not sure if that makes any difference. I am in UK.

Replacement Intervals:
MY 1999-MY 2001:
Timing belt - Check/report: Every 10,000 miles or 12 months.
Timing belt - Renew. Every 60,000 miles or 48 months.

MY 2002:
Timing belt - Renew: Every 80,000 miles or 48 months.
Timing belt idler - Renew: Every 80,000 miles or 48 months.

MY 2003:
Timing belt - Renew: Every 100,000 miles or 48 months.
