I've got a 99 golf and i'm having an issue with the hood latch. the initial latch that you unlock when you pull the lever from within the car appears to not function. the secondary latch which you have to pull from the outside is still holding.

When I close my hood, the outside latch holds, but the primary latch doesn't click. Is there any method of repairing this? I fear that my hood will come up on me when I drive at higher speeds. the hood still holds from the secondary latch, but I fear the worst.
