Hall Effect Sensor
Hey guys. I need a little help here with my 94 Golf III. It's throwing a code for a hall effect sensor, so rather than replacing the whole distributor, I just ordered a new sensor from Bausch. Now that I've got the part, however, there's a ring inside the distributor shaft that goes in between the two parts of the sensor that I can't seem to figure out how to release from the sensor. If anyone has any experience here or has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

RE: Hall Effect Sensor
I can't seem to grab your idea... A picture would greatly help... But here is some instruction in replacing a Hall sensor, that my friend gave me when I had a problem with my Volkswagen distributor and needs to repalce my sensor... Hope this helps...
1. Undo the cable clamp for the defective sensor, these screws are tight, use a big screwdriver that fits properly and press down hard when you turn. 2. Centre pop the sensor rivet heads accurately and drill the rivet head off with a 3.5mm drill. Don't drill down too far because if you drill slightly off centre you will drill the sensor plate, then when you come to fit a new sensor it might not locate correctly. 3. Carefully cut through the heat shrink and wires at the red marks below to release the sensor from the plate. Good luck!!! |
