Engine swap from gas to diesel?
 

Hello,

We are contemplating the purchase of a 92 Golf AT 4-door in need of an engine replacement. My question is: Is it possible to replace the gas engine currently in the vehicle with a diesel with a minimum of trouble? Exactly what would be involved? Fuel tank and line modifications? Do they even make a diesel to fit it? And what kind of cost would likely be involved in the purchase of such an engine new if it in fact exists?
