Electrical Problems???? Help.

Hey guys/gals,
I have a 2002 Golf and have encountered an interesting problem with my electrical system (or at least I think that it is my electrical).
Anyway, when I take my keys out of the ignition and open my door to get out of my car, I still get the idiot chime (dinging noise) reminding me that
I left my keys in the ignition, which I didn't. My key will also not work now when I try to use the remote lock/unlock/trunk buttons. I can still lock
it manually, but it is just weird that I still get the chime when my keys are not in the ignition. Anyone know what this could be?
Thanks
