Clutch Feels Rough changing up
Can anyone shed any light on what might be causing this issue and if it's something that needs sorting out soon.
I've got a 2.0tdi 140bhp mark 5 golf, just over a 100k miles on the clock.
When changing up in gears the clutch pedal feels pretty rough and feels like something is grinding I can sometimes hear it too. Only happens when depressing the pedal and not when releasing, and only seems to happen changing up gears. Doesn't happen with every gear and is most obvious when changing up from 2nd to 3rd, especially when trying to pull away quickly. Sometimes does it going from 3rd to 4th in same conditions e.g. when accelerating to join motorway. It's also more noticeable after a long run on the motorway having come off and then driving round town/pulling away from lights etc.
Doesn't seem like there is anything else wrong (apart from the rough feeling) i.e. clutch not slipping, no problem changing gear, pulls away fine without juddering etc.
Hoping I don't need to get a new clutch but know that there's a lot of labour time involved if the clutch/gear box needs taking apart by a mechanic.
Thanks.
