i have about 64,000 miles on my 98 golf and reverse everytime i back up it makes a loud clicking noise. and if i go in reverse at about 10mph it pops out of gear and goes into neutral. anybody have any idea what it could be? thanx

whoa thats weird. I know with most standards in reverse it kinda jerks and you can hear a clicking but never heard of it poping out of gear.

 

Mine does that, the gear's chewed up. I may have to replace my tranny soon, but I'm doin some research on it.
