98 golf gti
I replaced a transmission in my 98 golf gti, and now the clutch wont engage, the pedal goes straight to the floor. It has a new clutch, flywheel, n pressure plate. The transmission came out of a 96 golf (not GTI) bolted up perfect and went to press the clutch and hits , the floor the other transmission didnt have that problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm assuming its an hydraulic clutch so did you bleed it afterwards? https://volkswagenforum.com/forum/ne...gnature-34185/ |
it is a cable clutch.
The car is a 98 vw Golf Gti 4 cyl, 2.0L |
Are both Trannys the same, they bolt up the same n hook up the same, they shuld be compatible with one another.

So the pedal goes straight to the floor without any resistance then something has become disconnected?
I fitted a new clutch in a 1.2 Polo years ago and that clutch wouldn't operate as it should. I took it back out and fitted another new clutch and that one worked so the first clutch was faulty. |
The clutch operated before, i had to put the new clutch, flywheel n all that in when i had my old trans, i figured that would help my reverse problem but it didnt, so i had to buy a transmission, took the other ut everything looked right n when i put it back in the clutch lever wont raise all the way to make clutch engage, i hate the self adjusting clutch cables,

the cabledont have the ties for the adjusting thing, how do you self adjust the cable caseu the spring compresses above the lever and dnt pull it up
