97 Golf GL Battery reconnect, now weak idle

Last night I wanted to reset my check engine light so I disconnected the negative for a few minutes and reconnected. Car seemed to reset, but light is still on and now I have a weak idle and it dies at stop lights. Any ideas?

need to remap throttle body with vw scanner
