Just recently bought this 1996 Golf GL off some one, came with a crappy cd player so I took it out and replaced it with mine. Well when I put mine in it powered up for like 2 seconds, turned off after. Couldn't get it back on... Then I though it was broke so I tried hooking the crap one back up, did the same thing! What is going on!? Please help, it sucks not being able to listen to music while driving.

 

sounds like a blown power source
not necicarily the battery but i would find the recommended wattage for the new cd player and then find out the max watt capacity of your stereo power source, if the cd playe has more than the recommended wattage replace your power source, or u can totally over rideit by getting an amp
