I had the battery die on my golf, tried to boost it with my high amp boost setting on my battery charger, I've had a mechanic put a VW code reader on the the car and he says that the ecu is producing 38 codes saying all sensors are not functional. This has now caused my car to shift improperly. Can anyone provide some information

 

Well if you can post all 38 codes I can tell you what each one means.

 

A mechanic did the test so I dont have the codes, regardless of what the codes mean, there is a larger issue.

 

Well we don't know where you live because you have nothing in your Location.

You really need to find someone that can do a VAG-COM\VCDS Autoscan and get some error codes. If you live in the US I think AutoZone do a free scan with the hope that you buy something of them.

Ok, I will see if I can get a VAG reader and go from there, if I replace the ECU with n ECU that is of the same model number from a auto recycler, will it need to be programmed by VW dealer? Or would it be safe to say its a plug and go situation? Has anyone done this before?

 

Yes if you get an ECU from a breaker then you'll have to have all your keys programmed by a dealer. Or you could buy VAG TACHO and retrieve the SKC and programme the keys yourself.
