Default Oil pressure

Hi Folks,I am new to your site and it looks great!!!! I have a 1986 VW Rabbit cabrio that I am restoring. I bought this from a fellow who tried to do an engine swap and just butchered it.I have a question for you guys. When I start the car my oilpressure goes to 85psi. as it warms up the oil pressure drops and at an idle to about 7-10 psi.The manual states 28psi @ 2000 rpm I have 25psi@2000 rpm. I was thinking of rolling in new rod and main bearings and installing a new oil pump.Is this normal pressure? And am I wasting my time and money installing new bearings? I checked the rod and main bearings and they look great. the eng.is a 1.8 lt. and does not smoke or have any unusual noise. Any info would be great Thanks
