Odometer 5-digit or 6-digit on 86 Cabriolet
 

Does the odometer on a 1986 VW Cabriolet go to 5 digits or 6 digits?. I thought they rolled over at
99,999 but someone said the odometer would register to nearly a million miles, 999,999, before rolling over. Thank you for your help
