Newbie needs purchase advice!

Hey all, thanks for stopping by...I won't take up TOO much of your time :)
I am in the market to buy a new (or at least different) vehicle. After my
previous car crapped the bed, I have been perusing Craigslist (on a budget)
and came across an ad for a 1992 Volkswagen Cabriolet I love this car.
I want this car. However, upon further investigation, I've been told to be
wary about this purchase as the '92 model is boxier than the current Cabrio
models, and it would therefore be difficult to locate replacement parts if I
happened to need them in the future. The car is only $1,500 and the part
of me that really likes the wonky look of the car is willing to buy it. But I am
not a collector of VWs, does this car fall under the category of a collector's
item? Because I need something drive able, not something that will leave me
up a creek if it breaks.

Thanks for all of your input.

Hi.
I totally understand you. Those old Cabriolets are beautiful. But i have to say, that if you want a car, that will be reliable...you shouldn't buy it. You will more often be at service station than on road...
I think you should save more, and buy something that parts will be easier to get. Maybe VW Cabrio GLS <-- link. You will find something around 4,5-5k.
Those are nice too.
