Default intro and more

Hi, new to the forum
I have a 93 cabriolet classic in the shop.
1.8 8v automatic
recently replaced the head gasket. Made sure all marks were lined up, tdc timing mark as well as distributer mark, bolted all back together..........no start. getting fuel and spark. What did I eff up, lol
Not a novice on the wrench, hence the total frustration of the no starting thing.

Well if it ran before doing the head gasket then recheck all settings and cable connections.

If it has a spark and fuel does it attempt to fire?

I'm not sure if your 93 model has a 109 relay but these go faulty. You can crank it all day and it will never start its the main power feed to the ecu. Its worth carrying a spare one in the car as they can go at anytime. Google VW 109 relay problems?
