Default heated mirrors

Hello All,

My wife and I just bought a 2001 Cabrio GLS. I was just wondering... The heated mirrors stay on constantly. As long as the engine is running, the mirrors are warm/hot. Are they supposed to do that? One of the VW techs told me that the car was designed to do so but he didn't seem to be too confident with his explanation. Are the mirrors a-l-w-a-y-s heated in y-o-u-r Cabrios????

Piyush123- Did you ever find out the reason why your mirrors are always on? We just purchased a 2002 GLS model and noticed last night that the "heat" was on. The manual states that when the rear window defroster is activated the heated mirrors will come on. I'm going to check the fuse box and see if power is going to the mirrors with the RWD on and off.
