Default Coolant Flush

This 2002 Cabrio is approaching 100,000 miles. I'm not the original owner and not certain about the service history, although it appears in most part the car has been well cared for.

I've always done a coolant flush in my American and Japanese vehicles around 50,000 miles. This has been because in the old days (20-30 yrs ago), I suffered several instances of heater malfunctions attributed to clogged or partially clogged system, worn out thermostat, and coolant valves. That practice has seemed to serve me well as a preventative maintenance.

I'm curious about the system with G12 "lifetime" coolant. First, I'm not certain what is in the vehicle right now, and that is a major concern. Second, I'd like to do a flush myself and make certain the system is clean and operating properly.

So, what's wrong with a complete flush and fill with something like Peak Long Life antifreeze that claims to be phosphate and silicate free? Seems to me reasonable to assume if you get the system completely flushed out you could start over with any brand that does not contain the harmful ingredients. Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for your help.
