Default Transmission hard shifting

2002 VW Cabrio Convertible Automatic

Initially car wasn't shifting all gears and the speedometer, gas gauge, rpm andother dash weren't working so while looking for these causes I cleaned some connections and noticed the transmission wiring harness covering and internal wire deteriorated. I ordered a new harness and after removing the old one realized they weren't the same number. As I needed the car I went down to my local salvage yard and pulled one off a similiar car that had the same number. After returning home I realized this one had a small cut but decided to install and try as the transmission pan was already off. For a couple weeks it ran better but still didn't seem to be going into highest gear and then after driving it and using 1,2 and 3 it began to shift very rough. When it shifts it's as if it stops and lurches forward. I contacted where I bought the new harness from that had different number and they informed me it was a correct unit so I put that one on today. It went onto the solonoid connectors very hard but I figured it might be a quality issue. New part installed but car still shifts jerky.

No check engine light on
Original harness I removed 096-927-435
New harness I purchased 01m-927-365

Any suggestions on what to try?

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check the systems out.

Its easier to copy and paste what the VCDS log file says rather and pictures.

I find it's easier to help than criticize

I'm here to help but to look at each picture and type that code into my new EOBD II Fault Codes Software and post it, is a very slow process with all those error codes.

So if you want help type them in or Google.

Actually Keithuk it doesn't really seem like you are here to help. You might want to check out your replies as over 95% are critical rather than supportive or informative which is likely why this seems to be a forum of 1. People come for help and you just criticize. Why the Admin allows this is beyond me.

I help ever member that posts a problem after that have made an intro. If you don't like my comment post the error codes from the VCDS log as there are a lot. Its a simple request.

I comment on all posts if there is a better way to show info.

If you don't like this forum (or rather me) then there are plenty of more. Join one of those and see what replies you get back.

If I don't like you find another forum? What an arrogant comment. Your a moderator not an admin or site owner so perhaps you shouldn't be actively trying to run people off.

Please discontinue any contact/harrasment with me. If you have an issue submit it to an Admin

Correct I'm a moderator not an admin so I can't deleted your account only all posts but I would have to report them as Spam and you won't be able to join another forum, which I don't want to do. I can PM the admin and ask him to delete your account if that's what you want, let me know?

I sill don't see why you so disgruntled with me for asking to post all error codes which is a simple easy request..
