89 Cabrio desperate for help!!
My mother bought a very clean, cute white on white 89 Cabriolet last year and she has had problems with it ever since. It used to be that it would start just fine and you could push the clutch in and it would idle fine. After it was warm, every time you would push the clutch in it would die. You could not have the clutch in or in neutral the car would die unless you gave it gas. It would also lag while driving foot to the floor and then if you would hit a bump (like the plastic turtles in the middle of the road) and the sucker would take off like a champ...for a while. Now it still hesitates and dies, but now the turtles or bumps in the road don't help. These are the things she has had done.
Fuel Pump Fuel Filter Fuel Injectors cleaned Tune up Idle adjusted new throttle cable new clutch cable Any ideas on what could be? Any mechanic we go to can't figure it out or they say its fixed and the next day its the same. She has wanted this convertible for years and to see it sit in her garage during the summer is so sad. HELP PLEASE:confused::confused::confused::confused::con fused::confused::confused::confused::confused: |
try adjusting the throttle cable. I have a 92 and there is an adjustment screw that if you screw in it will give the car more gas when in neutral or idle. Let me know if you need pics and I will post some.
