2001 Cabrio Radio Locked in Safe Mode
Hello,
I have become victimized by the VW radio lords.
After 2 unsuccessful tries entering the radio security code, I have succeeded in locking my radio with a 2, lower left corner, and SAFE displayed.
I have left the key in with the radio on still displaying the 2 SAFE, and are patiently waiting.
Can anyone tell me if they have done this with any success?
How long must you wait with the key in and the radio on?
THANK YOU!
PS. I just had the computer replaced, hence the reason why the battery was disconnected and radio initially locked.

How long is a piece of string?
Where did you find the radio code from?
Is it an OEM radio?
You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.

Excuse my poor manners!
I was extremely frustrated with locking myself out of the radio. We had a planned road trip and we proceeded without a radio.
It's all good.
Problem fixed.
Have a great day!

Waiting is the key!
I had to park the Cabrio in my driveway with the key in the ignition and the radio on over night.
I blocked in the Cabrio with my other car so no one could steal it.
In the morning the radio was flashing 1000.
I used the 2, 3, and 4 program buttons to enter the rest of the code, held down the right scan button and the radio unlocked and went back to normal.
Thanks for asking.
