Hi, I'm having trouble with my '96 vw cabrio. Hopefully someone can help.
It's an automatic.
On the way to work the other day, the emergency/turn signal relay was buzzing instead of flashing. After work car wouldn't start the starter wouldn't work at all. I had to jump the solenoid to start it and have been doing so for a couple days.
Now the alarm goes off randomly when opening the door, also power locks work intermittently .
Could it be ignition switch? PNP relay? Thanks in advance.

 

It could be anything, check all cables and connections and Google this problem.

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.
