tried the disconnect of coil and pullin plugs, to prime oil pump, no success. repair manual suggested that, should i drop the pan and replace it, that is the only thing i think i did not do because it was working when i tore down and bought head. would really like to get this goin'. been learning experience. thanks for the input

 

good idea oil pumps and pickup tubes are #1 killer of heads an a 1.8
well maybe #2 broken belts are a bitch too

 

well, must not have had the distributor seated right on the oil pump, got it primed and running, thanks for the encouragement. got some fine tuning, tlc and soon it will be on the road
