Default Throttle cable tube plugged

I just picked up a 1977 Standard Bug. The throttle cabel is broken. I have the new one but can't figure out how to clear out the old "Hard" plastic tube left in the metal guide tube.

Does anyone have a good way to clear the tube so I can slide the new cable through?

Thanks,
Skip
