Spark plug location???

Where in the world are the sparkplugs on the 1.8T? Are they back by the firewall?

Thanks!

Well the info I have on a 2001 Beetle GLX 1.8T the spark plugs are under the ignition coil packs (20) these should be visible if there is no engine cover on.

Thanks Keith!!!! I thought that was part of the injection system. Individual coils...I'm old school with distributors and plug wires, plus all my cars are now diesel. This is the first gasoline or petrol engined car I have worked on in a while. This car is a daughter's car.

Would Bosch Platinums be the best plug to use?

Thanks again!!!

You can use any spark plug thats recommended.

NGK - PFR6-Q - 0.8mm

Beru - 14FGH7DTURX - 1.0mm

Champion - RC8PYP - 0.8mm

You may need a puller to remove the coil packs or just be very careful.

Actually, after removing the bolts that hold down the coil, it lifted right off with out need of a tool.

Thanks again for all your help, Keith!

The spark closes that vehicle manufacturers put in your engine have been extensively tested and proven to give your engine very good presentation under a broad variety of going by car situation. You cannot proceed incorrect by attaching to the auto manufacturers recommendations.
