Restoring a 68' super beetle convertible. First time help!

We are going to buy a 68' super beetle convertible and restore it. This is our first restore in a long time. Atleast 25 years ago my dad restored a 71 beetle, but we still need help!Any tips on things to make sure to check for when we are restoring or places where we can buy parts and fabric ect. Thanks

RE: Restoring unknown year Classic Bug. Tips?

As far as getting parts are concerned, you can try Motorworks. I think they still mail out free catalogs. You might see if there are any local stores, mechanicsanyone whocould get you in contact with the local bug gurus to getparts, advice. I started my resto atMotorworks, but later found a local bug parts supplier who bought from motorworks, saving me theshipping expense. Good luck and enjoy!:D
