Old beetle that backfires wont rev and wont idle?
 

This is an old beetle I bought from a guy and it stood in the weather for a few yearsbut I got the motor started but when it is on low rev's it doesn't backfire but when I rev it a litle it backfires a lot and it wont rev very high.

I checked the firing orderit's right 1432 I replaced the rotor and coil and cleaned the carberator. I checked the timing, points and the tappitsits allcorrect.

This is not a original carborator but it looks quit new.

Where ona 34 PICT-4 carburetor should the vacume pipe be attached?

mine did this too the points and the fuel and air misture where my problems with it. so i suggest that you check the fuel and air mixtures
