i have a 99 beetle 2.0L manual trans and my car is making an odd grinding noise when starting not all the time but it starts and instantly makes a grinding sound like the starter is still trying start but the car is already started any ideas?

 

It's nothing to worry about it's just a nice feature of our starter. I have a brand new Bosch and it still does that.

 

ok cool i guess ill just have to live with it, although my '82 rabbit conv. didn't make that sound so i thought it was odd. thanks again.

ive heard that sound before on my car with dodge performance parts..i dont think its that annoying at all..its something normal for me..

 

The best way to fix weird noises in a VW is to invest in a really expensive sound system.
