Default New Key Fob

I bought a new key fob for my 2002 beetle online. Before I did so, I watched videos on YouTube, read teh comments, etc. No one seemed to have problems making the new switch. When I made the switch, the locks worked, car started, but then quickly shut down. Apparently, changing key fobs deprogrammed my car. Has this happened to anyone? I took it to a local car place to have to reprogram my car but they could not. Now they are having to order new keys. Days out of a car and $300 later.....I am not sure I will ever do this again!!!!

VW immobilizer's have been are a pain in the **** for many years.

VW and Audi key, remote, and immobilizer FAQ and troubleshooting

You would need something like VAG TACHO or VAG K+CAN Commander 1.4 to read the Secret Key Ciode (SKC) so you can programme any new keys to the vehicle. Or you pay top dollar through a dealer.

The only way to bypass the immobilizer is to contact these chip tuners that can write to the ecu.
