I wrote Fri about 1973 Beetle brakes after complete brake job was done and brakes went to Floor

well I am wrong and VW is 1974 stupid me, can someone help me tell difference if I have a Super Beetle or Reg Beetle this is my first beetle since 1969 in years

help

brakes are bad after getting new pads and MAster cyclinder whole works and almost got in accident Fri

a few things i have learned . if the first two numbers in the vin are "13" super beetle. if you have macpherson strut front suspension(vertical tube with wire coiled arond the tophalf of it ) like most modern cars bolted in under front bonnet. spare tire lays "flat" under hood. vin id tab is under bonnet next to thebonnet latch super beetle . as far as your brakes go look at the old ones rplacements should be identical. not uncommon to be givven the wrong part with same part number but wrong.

 

Look under the rubber floor mat on the drivers side, the brake
line going to the rear brakes will be there, it gets rusted out and
will go bad and you will loose the brakes. It will be a small silver
or rusted tube smaller than a soda straw.
