Looking for Beetle Radio Security Code

I am in need of a security code for my 98 Beetle radio made by Clarion. I had my mechanic work on the A/C and he unhooked the battery, now radio is in safe mode. If someone has decoding software I would greatly appreciate help in getting the 4 digit code. The 14 digit serial number off of the radio is VWZ9Z7W2016822.

i dont know when i had my mp3 installed into my car (03 beetle)it asked for one, and all i did was turn my car on and it reset itself. but you might have alredy tried that.

Mine did that when I was putting in a new CD player (not a VW player) in my 2000 bug. I believe that I let it set like that for about 14 hours before it reset itself. This was a long time ago though. Otherwise you may need to call a dealership. Good luck.
