Just bought a Beetle
 

Hi, new to the forum, I just bought a 1973 beetle. Ive been going through it, and it doesnt run, at this time, has been setting up for a couple of years. I cleaned out the gas tank, and installed a new fuell filter, and battery today. I dont think it is getting any fire. I saw where I could get a elontronic ignition, for it and do away with the points. Would this be recommended?

if you get a good one they arnt bad but keep a set of points and a condencer in the glove box
when they go bad your dead on the road you can allways open up a set of points if your in a jam
