headlights

Default headlights

I have 1999 beetle, is any way i can replace the headlight bulb myself? the book says to have a dealer do it. thanks for any help you can give me.

Hello, it seems to me that it is possible to change the all alone headlight after it is necessary to have knowledge in mechanics.

Actually it is quit easy if you follow the steps. To change the headlight bulb you will have to remove the entire assembly. First ,find the back side of the assembly and release the spring clamp(pull up) and then depress the tab in front of it rotating it upward(this turns the entire assembly). Then pull the housing far enough out to disconnect the electrical connections and remove the assembly. The bulb can be changed through the rear of the assembly.

I have always heard that it is a big pain. Took my wife's to a Tuffy's to have the oil changed and had them replace the bulbs and they wanted like 160 for the job. **** on that.
