I went to get in my 73 Super the other morning and discovered my key would not unlock the door, nor would it unlock from the inside. I've had these doors apart before and I'm trying to figure out what my next step is going to be--take the panel off and try to get to the lock from there? Any suggestions? Thanks!

 

I owned a 73 bug also, The screws for the door handle I thought were either on the side jamb of the door or the front cover pops off - or was that the Rabbit? Mostly the plastic cam on the inside when you pull the handle has top be replaced or cast piece breaks for the lock mechanism.

 

yha sounds like a small peice in broke off in the lock mecinism. pull it and check what you find.

Thanks for the responses! I'll keep them in mind. However, the day I posted this I went back out to finish some other work on my bug--much needed tlc after several months--and the door freed itself up! I'd like to chalk this incident up to my car trying to get my attention after feeling neglected.
