do i have a sunbug (or partial one)?
 

hello, I have a 73 beetle that I have stored for the last 23 years. The seats are beginning to dry rot a bit and I have been researching seat covers. The covers I was finding did not seem to look like they would fit my car so I emailed a photo to the company that makes them to see if they were possibly installed from a later year bug before I owned it. They replied that these are actually Sun Bug seats and that covers are not made for them (I would need to get them reupolstered). Now I am wondering if I might own a sun bug or if someone installed sun bug seats into this car at some point. Or is it possible that a beetle could have been ordered in 73 with factory air (mine has it) and the sun bug seats but without the sunroof (mine is a regular hardtop). Is there a way to track this info by VIN number perhaps?
Any advice would be appreciated.
