Below 60 degrees, won't start.

I have a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 Automatic. I've had it for two years now and I love her. But since this last fall/winter (I live in Michigan) It will not run below approx. 60 degrees. It will start, run for a few seconds then stall. I used to have to rev the engine up a few RPMS for a good 5 to 7 minutes to get it to stay started, but that killed my starter and I won't be doing that anymore. It runs beautifully when its warm. It has just reached 80,000 miles. Yes...80,000 miles. It still has so much life in it. I have had a lot of mechanics test it and it doesn't throw codes. The Volkswagen dealership is clueless, and I am out of luck. Does anyone have an idea of what would be going on? I got this car when I was 16, and I am now 18 and I would hate to get rid of it, I am seriously attached to my bug. If anyone has had this problem, or could possibly have an idea what's wrong I'd love some opinions!!

If you say it won't start after a few seconds the immobilizer wasn't fitted on US models before 2000.

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.

AutoZone will do a free scan in the hope you buy something of them.

It doesn't throw codes when we scan it. We've scanned it at autozone, Volkswagen, and local shops.
