Beetle Carb

I recently purchased72 Super Beetle and the carb has a shady repair job on it. The engine is not running too well and I would like to replace it and before I go out and buy one I figured I'd ask if there was a replacement that people preferred over the SOLEX one that's in there now. I am not looking for anything high performance. I just want it to run the way it's supposed to. Any ideas?

Is there any reason to switch to bocar? Do the solex ones have a good reputation. If they do, I'll stick with those.

Do I need to be worried about remanufactured Solex carbs? A guy at Napa warned me that the quality of Solex rebuild carbs can be questionable.
