I have a 98 beetle, manual, gas.In fifth gearat 3500 to 4000 rpms right at seventy mile's per hour it starts to make a harmonic sounda little loud onceI go past 4000rpm's or below 3500-3600 it quits. It will do this inother gears at the aboverpm'salso.I have been back tothe dealerthree to four times last time kept the car for three days could not figure it out. This all started after the dealer replaced the rightfront axle? Anymore questions please ask awa.y

 

might be a bent axle shaft if it didnt do it b4
or they might have left the axle nut loose and took out your wheel brg
