Hi all, I have a 78 beetle with a rebuilt engine, but it won't start. Turns over but it won't fire enough to start. Anyone have any suggestions on what to check? Fuel pump, fuel filter, what else could be the problem? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks! I'm anxious to get the top down and get it out!

 

Has it run in a while? There might not be much fuel there. Assuming compression is good, you need to make sure its getting spark too.

I had a 71 beetle dumped in my drive recently. I put some fuel directly in the carb and it would splutter back to life.

Thanks for your input and info! Very helpful! I have always wanted a classic bug, didn't realize how much could go wrong with them!! Sigh...

 

alot more can go wrong with a new ca, these are easier and cheaper to work on
