2005 vw beetle overheating??
 

I have changed the radiator, thermostat, heat sensor, outside electric water pump, fan work fine. Found the water pump melted and replaced that. What else could cause it????

I am working on a 98', 2.0 liter, beetle that is also over heating. The thermostat housing is what is melting on this vehicle. I have a code, P-0118 and it tells me that the problem might be the temperature sensor. Could be a bad sensor or the wiring for this circuit is not good. Poor ground or shorted somewhere. This vehicle has visible front body damage, so I will begin with the temperature sensor and go from there.

A melted water pump? Some water pumps have plastic impellers so its really got to hot to melt that.

Many people are facing a 2005 vw beetle overheating problem. I also use a 2001 beetle and I also changed head gasket, water pump, thermostat, and the motor but some time face overheating problem. When I was drive this car so both hoses are become hot and the same time radiator is cool.

In most cars the coolant temp is controlled mechanicly, so my train of thought is that the car is actually NOT over heating but just indicating that it is. If you have a bad electric or electronic indication that it is over heating and it's not, it may be giving you guys a false reading.

Have any of you verified what the actual temp is when it's telling you it's hot? Sometimes you can find a shop or parts store that has one of those infrared temp readers that they point at an object and get the temp. Maybe if you went there and had them read the temp of the inlet hose, outlet hose and maybe the block you can get a good real reading. I know a bad temp sensor can send all kinds of bad info to the gauge in my car.

The other day I went to look at a guy's truck that was leaking a little oil and running a little rough. When I took it for a short drive it felt like it was idling fine but was reading 1,500 rpm's. When I plugged my OBD-II (ScanGauge II) in it read the rpm's at 750. So the dash was giving me a bad reading for some reason.

My '2005 Beetle is overheating with the red lightweight blinking after 10-15 minutes of going by car. Furthermore, no warm air is approaching out when the heater is turned on. I've already flushed and refilled the coolant with G12. I've furthermore replaced the A/C switch and Coolant Temperature sensor, but still no proceed.

As suggested water pumps can fail.

You need to find someone with VAG-COM\VCDS to do an scan for any error codes logged before you spend money replacing items that aren't needed.

My vehicle overheated and started cooking with steam so I pulled over. The water was gone in a issue of seconds and I had refilled it the day before and so on. The azure ticking overheating sound begins on every time the follower wont turn on and it was jump begun in order to get it dwelling quick.
