2005 New Beetle Fire
 

Three weeks ago while driving to work smoke came out from under the hood and through the vents into my driving compartment. When I got to work the smoke was really bad with a rubber burning smell. The car wouldnt start and had to be towed to the dealer. Three weeks later, and after calling VW corp. I was told that it was the igniton coil and wiring that caught fire. the parts were replaced and I was told that they had never seen anything like that before. The car was bought new in 2005 and only has 17,000 miles. Has anyone else experienced this?

my house was burned down by my 2005 beetle, you got lucky. My beetle was turned off for 12 hours then went up in my garage. we had to rebuild the house from ground up, not to mention our lives.
