2005 Beetle convertible, ABS and drivers air bag light on

Took it to the shop; they say ABS light is caused by a faulty fuse box on top of the battery and the harness to the alternator. Want $977 to replace. Sounds weird; does this sound like a reasonable cause of the problem? Estimate seems high; looks like it could be a fairly simple DIY?
Also they say the air bag light is caused by two cracked brake booster pipes; price to fix $586. Again, does this sound like a reasonable cause? Doubt I'd want to tackle that one.
We're wanting to sell the car; do these lights mean the systems won't work? Not really looking to put a bunch of money in it just to sell it. Thanks...
