1966 how do I get to the wiring for the turn signal?

1966 how do I get to the wiring for the turn signal?

I have a 66 bug and to use the turn signals I have to hold the lever down so they will work. How do I get the center cover off the steering wheel. I don't want to damage it by just pulling since I don't know how to do it.

They pry off, just be carefull...that stuff is over 40 years old and might be a little tired.
