Default Turbochargers

Airesearch T3
Compressor Housing a/r: .42
Compressor Trim: 50
Turbine Housing a/r: .48
Oil Cooled only
The turbo is in need of a rebuild. Not that hard or costly to have rebuilt if you have the time/money to do so (don't have either) .

TDO4HL
Don't know much about this one other than it has shaft play and came off a Eagle Talon TSI. I couldn't feel any in/out movement of the shaft if that helps you out on anything, just up/down movement. Would more than likely recommend a rebuild on this one.

MITSU. TEO4H
Has shaft play & would recommend a rebuild on this unit also. One of the coolant holes MAY need to be helicoiled, but if you really wanted (like most do) you could just not use the coolant passages. Also know that one bolt will need to be extracted out of the turbine housing since usually they never come out like they should. Luckily only one bolt was stubborn the rest of the holes are fine.

i would be interested in one
i just need to know if it would work in a 94 golf with a 1.8

also is the 1.8 compression level low enough for a turbo? or do i have to rip it apart?

I think with the right fine tune you could run some boost through the 1.8L. IIRC they have 10.0:1. Personally the Teo4h could do the job at about 10-15PSI. I have seen some of these turbochargers push out about 18psi, but that is if you really have a precise tune with ultimate cooling abilities. It all depends on what you want in the end and how well your engine has been maintained. I have a hunch that the teo4h would be a nice responsive turbo for your application.
