FS: 1991 VW Fox (2D/1.8 L/manual/164k mi) for parts or repair
This car was my daily driver until this Summer. The engine turned off while driving and does not start, and I am looking to sell it as-is. Since the engine cranks over, I expect it to be a fueling (fuel pump) or spark (distributor) issue, which can be fixed relatively easily. This would make a great car for a DIY enthusiast or an even better parts donor car.
What's good about it/what parts you can expect to salvage -
1. The motor is strong and burns hardly any oil. I expect it have many more thousand miles of life in it. Oil changes were done every 3000 mi (last one done about 200 mi before the repair) and PCV, coolant hoses, belts, distributor cap, cables and starter were replaced over the last 1 year.
2. Clutch plates are relatively new (replaced at 145 k mi).
3. Entire front suspension is new (struts, strut bushings, tie-rods, ball joints, wheel bearings) - replaced in the last 5 k mi.
4. Tires are nearly brand new with only about 5 k mi on them. These are all-season Pirelli Cinturato tires purchased from Discount Tire with lifetime maintenance. Wheels are the limited-edition VW 15" alloy wheels.
5. Misc. parts like trim, body parts, mirrors etc.
What's not good -
1. Cranks but won't start as I said earlier.
2. Third gear sometimes slips under heavy acceleration.
3. Front windshield has crack
4. Driver's window regulator is broken.
If you are interested, email me at < s a m m k 1 2 3 4 @ g m a i l . c o m > for pictures. I am in the Detroit, MI area and can provide towing for upto 15 mi. If you are local, I will consider parting out.
Thanks!
